About

Title sequences are the part of television most likely to be skipped and least likely to be written down. This is a catalogue of them: 3405 sequences across 3187 shows, each with a note on what it is doing and why it earns its place.

The rule

A season gets its own entry only when its sequence is genuinely different — a new cut, a new cast, or a new arrangement of the theme. Shows that reused one opening for their whole run get a single entry covering every season.

This matters for reading the catalogue correctly: a season that is not listed separately is a claim that nothing changed, not an admission that nobody checked. Listing nine identical seasons would be noise pretending to be completeness.

What is not here

• Video. Nothing is hosted here. Every sequence is embedded from wherever it already lives, and the player stays a still image until you press it.
• Ratings and rankings. The notes say what a sequence does. They do not score it.
• Every show ever made. The catalogue is small and written by hand rather than scraped, which is the only reason the notes are worth reading.

Corrections

Two things go wrong here more than anything else: a video is taken down and the page keeps its shape while the embed quietly dies, and a sequence is attributed to the wrong season. Both are hard to notice from the inside. Corrections are welcome.
