Privacy

Short, because there is very little to tell you.

Last updated

This is a plain-language draft describing how the site currently works. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer, and it is not a substitute for advice on the obligations that apply where you operate.

Who this is

TVTitles is operated by Yarkii LLC, which is responsible for the handling described below.

The short version

  • Every page loads Google Tag Manager, so your visit is measurable.
  • The site is being set up to carry advertising, and no advertising cookie is set unless you agree to it separately.
  • You can browse the entire catalogue without an account.
  • If you sign in, the only thing kept about you is an opaque account identifier. Your name, email address and profile picture are discarded the moment they arrive.
  • Saved shows are stored in your own browser, not in a database.

What loads from elsewhere

Thumbnails come from the video host’s image servers, so viewing a page means your browser requests images from Google. That request carries your IP address and browser details, as any request to any server does. This happens on page load and is not something you opt into by pressing anything.

The players themselves are different. A sequence stays a still image until you press play, so no video-host connection is opened, and no video-host cookie is set, unless you choose to watch. When you do, the embed uses the host’s no-cookie domain. From that point their privacy policy governs the playback.

Signing in

Signing in is optional and exists for one feature: keeping a list of saved shows. It uses Google. We receive an identity token, take the account identifier from it, and drop everything else — the name, the email address and the picture are never stored and never sent to the page. The name shown in the header is generated from that identifier, which is why it is an animal rather than yours.

Cookies

All first-party, all necessary for the feature they belong to, and none of them used for advertising. The tag manager may set its own, and advertising may set its own if you agree to it; both are described below.

  • Session — records that you are signed in. Expires after 30 days.
  • Saved shows — holds the list itself, signed so it cannot be edited by hand. Expires after a year.
  • Two sign-in cookies — carry a one-time value that protects the sign-in round trip and remembers the page you started from. Both expire after ten minutes and are cleared on completion.

Clearing your cookies signs you out and erases your saved list, because the list is the cookie. Saved shows do not follow you to another browser or another device for the same reason.

Server logs

Our hosting provider records requests — IP address, time, path, user agent — as part of running and protecting the service. We do not build profiles from them.

What we do not do

  • No advertising unless you agree to it, and nothing about you is sold. Agreeing lets Google select and measure ads; it does not hand anyone a list of who you are, because this site does not hold one.
  • No email marketing. Signing in does not subscribe you to anything.
  • No payments, so no card details exist here to lose.
  • The site is not directed at children, and it asks for nothing that would identify one.

Your choices

Sign out to end the session. Clear your browser cookies to remove the saved list. Because the only identifier held is the opaque account id inside your own cookie, signing out and clearing cookies leaves nothing of yours here to delete.

If you want to ask something, or want your account identifier confirmed or removed from anything it may appear in, get in touch.

Measurement

Every page loads a tag container, and the container is configured to run Google Analytics. That writes cookies whose only job is to recognise your browser across visits so the counts are of people rather than of page loads.

Those cookies are set only if you agree. Until you answer, and permanently if you decline, the container loads with every storage permission switched off: it writes nothing to your browser and identifies nobody. Declining costs you nothing here — no part of the catalogue depends on being measured.

Loading the container does mean your browser contacts Google on every page, which reveals your IP address, your browser and the page you are on, separately from anything the cookies do. That happens either way, and a content blocker is the only thing that prevents it.

The cookie page lists what is set, by whom, and for how long.

Advertising

This site is being set up to carry advertising through Google AdSense, which is what pays for keeping the catalogue up. No advertising code runs on the page yet, and none of it runs for you unless you agree to it.

Advertising is asked separately from measurement and stored separately, because consent given for one purpose is not consent for another. Agreeing to be counted therefore does not switch advertising on, and if you refuse advertising, ad identifiers are stripped from anything Google is sent and any ads you eventually see are chosen without a profile of you.

One standard, wherever you are

We do not detect your country and then decide how much privacy you get. The stricter half of two regimes applies to everybody who visits.

  • The UK and EU rule — consent comes first. Nothing optional is stored until you have agreed to it, refusing is as easy as agreeing, and ignoring the question counts as refusing.
  • The California rule — if your browser sends Global Privacy Control, we treat it as a binding opt-out of sharing for advertising. It overrides anything saved on this site, and we honour it in every country rather than only where a statute names it.

Nothing about you is sold. Personalised advertising counts as “sharing” under the California definitions, which is what the advertising choice below switches off. If you are in California, the rights to know, delete, correct and opt out are unusually easy to exercise here for a dull reason: signed in or not, the only thing this site holds about you is an opaque account identifier inside your own cookie, so signing out and clearing cookies already leaves nothing of yours to hand over or erase. Asking costs you nothing either way, and nothing you are shown changes if you do — get in touch.

Changing your mind

Your current choices load with the page.

Each of these takes effect immediately and lasts until you change it. Forgetting your answer puts you back to never having been asked: everything optional stops at once, and you will be asked again. The cookie page carries the same control and is linked from the footer of every page, so you can change your mind whenever you like.

Changes

If the site starts collecting something it does not collect today, this page changes in the same release, and the date above moves.
