Doctor Who (2005)
The revival kept the tunnel and the logo and threw out everything else, then carried on rebuilding — clouds, fire, clockwork — with a new arrangement of the same 1963 melody every few years.
Season 1
47sThe Mill rebuild the slit-scan tunnel in CG and fly the TARDIS through it far faster than 1974 could manage. Murray Gold's arrangement keeps samples of the original underneath the orchestra.
Seasons 2–4
42sReworked for Tennant — the same vortex with a new logo treatment and new cast cards.
Seasons 5–6
42sFramestore start again: storm clouds, lightning and the TARDIS tumbling through them rather than a tunnel. New logo, and Gold adds a melodic fanfare to the front of the theme.
Season 7
40sPeter Anderson Studio shorten it and turn the palette to fire — reds and oranges boiling around the TARDIS where the clouds used to be.
Seasons 8–10
42sGears, cogs and a recursive clockface, adapted from a title sequence Billy Hanshaw made at home and put on YouTube. Steven Moffat found it, called it the only new idea since 1963, and hired him. Gold drops the fanfare for an electronic screech that nods back at the 1980s.
Seasons 11–12
51sWhittaker's era, and Segun Akinola takes the theme back towards the Radiophonic Workshop — the 1963 melody and the 1970 sting over a bassline built from drums.
Season 13
34sModified for Flux, the six-part serial that ran as a single story, with the serial's own branding carried under the logo.
Seasons 14–15
47sA new sequence and a new logo, arriving with the sixtieth-anniversary specials and carried into the relaunch in 4K. The BBC renumbered the run as a fresh season one at this point; these are listed as fourteen and fifteen so they do not collide with 2005.
