Late Night with David Letterman
New York at night shot from a moving car, over a jazz-organ theme — the opening that decided what a late-night talk show looks like.
Late Night with David Letterman opens with a main title sequence of 76 seconds.
At 76 seconds, it opens well above the 38-second median for comedy sequences in this catalogue.
It arrived on NBC in 1982, when Truth or Consequences, Another World and Search for Tomorrow were also on the network.
