Roobarb
Felt-tip animation that boils and shimmers because it was drawn one frame at a time and never traced twice.
Roobarb opens with a main title sequence of 22 seconds.
At 22 seconds, it opens well under the 58-second median for animation sequences in this catalogue.
It arrived on BBC One in 1974, when A Question of Sport, Grandstand and This Is Your Life were also on the network.
