The Animals of Farthing Wood
Animals leaving a destroyed wood for a nature reserve, and a children's series that killed off its cast as it went.
The Animals of Farthing Wood opens with a main title sequence of 45 seconds.
At 45 seconds, it opens well under the 58-second median for animation sequences in this catalogue.
It arrived on BBC One in 1993, when A Question of Sport, Grandstand and This Is Your Life were also on the network.

Ninety seconds cut faster than the eye resolves, with whole frames of text and diagram flashed for one frame each. Yoko Takahashi's theme is bright, major-key J-pop laid over imagery that is doing nothing of the kind, and the mismatch is the point rather than an accident.
