Barney Miller
A bass line so good it outlived the show entirely — a police-station sitcom remembered chiefly for forty seconds of funk.
Barney Miller kept one opening title sequence, 53 seconds long, across season 3.
At 53 seconds, it opens well above the 38-second median for comedy sequences in this catalogue.
It arrived on ABC in 1975, when One Life to Live, All My Children and The Bugs Bunny Show were also on the network.
