The Jeffersons
'Movin' On Up' over a family arriving at a Manhattan apartment — a theme that functions as a plot summary and a thesis at once.
The Jeffersons opens with a main title sequence of 88 seconds.
At 88 seconds, it opens well above the 38-second median for comedy sequences in this catalogue.
It arrived on CBS in 1975, when Candid Camera, Guiding Light and As the World Turns were also on the network.
